Hampden Academy enters as the Class A favorite after winning the North Regional and finishing 3rd at states. Asher Valentine will be one of the top individual contenders in the state and gives them a legitimate frontrunner. The Broncos have incredible depth with seven runners returning, including Gunnar Weil who provides excellent support. Their combination of a potential individual champion and outstanding team depth makes them the team to beat in Class A.

What makes Portland dangerous is their remarkable young talent, with Everret Smith, Reid Hughes, and Sam Harrod-Kim all running well as freshmen. Their depth is impressive and they have the perfect blend of veteran leadership and emerging young stars to take another state championship.
