Post FOC Rankings (Posted 10/8/26)
We finally saw the top athletes go head to head and it did not disappoint! Georgia Moon won at FOC and in doing so became the 3rd fastest girl in state history. Nora Schmidt improved on her winning time from last year, running 17:41. Higgins continued her steady season, running 18:0X again and Allie Schmitt made a big leap forward, joining her there. Reagan Mattson won the freshman race and remains undefeated on the season. The only one who might challenge her in Class C is Leah Harper of Madison, who had a great run in Belfast and is our biggest riser of the week.
Week 2 Rankings (Posted 9/14/26)
The top 10 remains largely unchanged after the Southern Maine Classic, but Karen Higgins has a legit claim at #1 after her dominant win. Unfortunately, #1 Schmidt and #2 Moon both did not run so we have yet to have a matchup between our top ranked athletes and it looks like we will have to wait until FOC to get it. The big story this week is that there are now four Freeport athletes in the rankings, with York, Kryzak, and Gilbert joining Ella Oshetski, who was already in the top 21. At this point, all athletes that have not yet raced this season will be omitted from the rankings until the debut.
Week 1 Rankings (Posted 9/7/26)
No changes at the top after our first week of regular season action. Schmidt, Moon, Higgins, and Elliott confirmed their top rankings and all remain undefeated thus far. Mattson is a big riser and is also undefeated, including a win over #8 Emma Graves. Elle Foley and Corinne Shank are also big risers after standout performances at the SMAA Relays. Athletes that have not yet raced (Alexander, Rand, and Catenese) fell in the rankings and will be omitted moving forward unless they debut this week.
