2025 Outlook:
The Clippers are looking to repeat in 2026 after a dominant Class B championship campaign. Jackie Chalmers will serve as a frontrunner and potential individual state title contender. Behind him, Eli Chalmers and Bowen Mitchell form a strong top three that gives Yarmouth an early advantage. The team has exceptional depth throughout their lineup. If Yarmouth can maintain their consistency and pack running throughout the season, they will be the team to beat in Class B.

2025 Outlook:
Houlton/GHCA once again looks like the team to beat in Class C. The defending Class C state champions return a loaded group, led by Malachi Witmer. Behind him is a pack that gives Houlton one of the tightest and most dangerous packs in the state. Their 1-5 spread is excellent, and with multiple underclassmen already running at a high level, this team has both current strength and long-term upside. If they stay healthy, Houlton/GHCA should be favored to repeat in Class C and could push Yarmouth to be the top team overall.

2025 Outlook:
Gorham has the pieces to make a run at the Class A title. Harvey Crider, Owen Cummings, and Harrison Crider give the Rams a strong top three, all capable of breaking 17 minutes. That kind of front-end strength should allow Gorham to score well in championship meets. Behind them the Rams have strong depth, and also bring in freshman Thomas Holland, who will compete for a scoring position. The key will be closing the gap from their third to fourth runner. If their pack behind the Criders and Cummings can narrow, Gorham could be the best team in Class A.

2025 Outlook:
Portland enters 2026 with high expectations after a strong 2025 campaign that included a regional title and state runner-up finish. Emile Olins and Everett Smith key contributors who could break into the top tier of runners in class A and lead the Bulldogs at the front. Portland may not have the same low stick as some of the teams around them, but their depth is a major strength. With this level of consistency throughout their lineup and championship experience from last year, Portland has all the tools to compete for the Class A title this season.

2025 Outlook:
The Windjammers are primed to be one of the top teams in Class A North with a strong returning squad. Noah Seigh gives the Windjammers a strong frontrunner after running 16:48, and he should be one of the top runners in the region. William Parker and Avery Redfern represent a young core that has already shown state championship-caliber performances. With their regional pedigree and youth advantage, Camden Hills has the potential to challenge for a higher state finish and could be a dark horse candidate for the overall Class A title.

2025 Outlook:
Caribou dominated their regional in 2025 and looks to build on that success. Pierce Gorneault is an elite young talent who will anchor the team's future as a sophomore. Tewolde Stewart and Xander Jamieson provide experienced mid-pack runners who performed well at the state meet. The Vikings have solid depth throughout their lineup, though they will need to improve their overall team score from last year. With Gorneault's young talent and a veteran supporting cast, Caribou has the pieces to make another strong postseason run.

2025 Outlook:
Hampden Academy enters 2026 as a Class A title contender after a 2025 campaign that included a narrowly won state championship. Jack Scott is one of the top runners in the state and will be a frontrunner who could challenge for an individual title. Behind him, John Wilkerson and Jude Keezer provide solid support, while young Zachary Valentine gives the team depth and potential for growth. Hampden may need to replace some of the firepower that helped them win the state title last year, but this is still a team with a high ceiling.

2025 Outlook:
The Trojans showed promise throughout 2025 and have an opportunity to make significant strides this season. Ryan Bolduc has joined the squad and immediately becomes and individual state title contender.  Jonathan Perry and Noah Loveys-Messenger provide experienced support in the top three. If the team can improve their 4th and 5th positions and tighten their gaps throughout the lineup, they could surprise some higher-ranked squads this season.

2025 Outlook:
Sanford surprised some teams at the beginning of last year and enter this year as a team to watch.  The Spartans have an excellent frontrunner in Isaac Pelletier, who is one of the top runners in Class A and could be in contention for an individual state title. Behind him is a group of juniors that all had great sophomore seasons.. With elite talent at the front and solid contributors throughout, Sanford has the potential to make a stronger push toward the top of Class A this season.

2025 Outlook:
Falmouth projects to be the most improved team in 2026.  Freshmen Mateo Diaz-Pedraso, Jonah Magnuson, and Theo Simpson all have potential to score for the team immediately.  Griffin Hendrix will anchor the squad with championship experience. With other young talent like Jude McCullough and Brownlow Parks-Stamm developing, Falmouth has a nice mix of experience and youth. Don’t be surprised if this team exceeds even this improved ranking.

2025 Outlook:
The Red Storm have an elite talent in Atticus Merriam, one of the top runners in the entire state who will be the clear frontrunner and an individual title contender. Behind him, the team has solid contributors that should run as a group.  The key for Scarborough will be closing the gap between Merriam and the rest of the team. If Anderson, Howland, and Meissner can push closer to the 17-minute range, Scarborough could outperform this ranking and become a major factor in Class A South. With an elite frontrunner and decent pack support, the Red Storm should be competitive and could challenge for a higher finish with improved pack running.

The Rams enter 2026 with one of the top runners in the state in Samuel Bergmark, who is an individual title contender. Samuel Dineen is a solid second option who has proven capable at both regional and state levels. The question will be the gap behind them. The Rams will need their 3-5 runners to move closer to Dineen if they want to challenge the top teams in Class A North. Bangor should still be a strong state meet team with major upside if the pack improves.

Alfie Cognata leads the team with elite speed and will give William Morris a run at the individual state title. Behind him is a solid core that should put Winthrop at the top of the MVC. If this team can peak well at the end of the season like they did last year, they could give Houlton a scare and maybe even win the Class C title outright.

2025 Outlook:
Freeport enters the season as one of the strongest teams in Class B. The Falcons were the Class B runner-up last year and return a strong group led by Ian Guzman, who has run 16:44 and should be one of the top individual runners in the state. Vincent Landberg gives Freeport a very good second runner, while Mungu Tussing provides another experienced athlete under 18:00. The biggest question will be the gap from their third to fourth runner. If Ellis Casey, Leo Anderson, Marsden Shetterly, or another contributor can close that gap, Freeport has the pieces to contend with the best in Class B. Their front-end talent makes them a serious threat every time they race.

2025 Outlook:
Mt. Blue brings back a strong and experienced group from a team that finished 8th in Class A last fall. Wyatt Oliver leads the way after running 17:39, and he should give the Cougars a reliable presence near the front. Behind him, Nick DeMarco, Oak Medina, and Eli Young form an excellent pack, all sitting within two seconds of each other based on personal bests. That tight 2-4 group could be a major strength for Mt. Blue throughout the season. Teddy McLeod gives them a fifth returner under 20:00, but the Cougars will need him or another runner to move closer to the main pack if they want to climb higher in Class A. With strong depth and experience, Mt. Blue should again be one of the better teams in Class A North.

Behind him, the York has a compact pack that should be able to get 7 runners across the line before other teams have 5.

2025 Outlook:
The Vikings narrowly qualified for the State Meet last year and will be looking to improve on that result in 2026.  Since they do not have a true frontrunner, Oxford Hills will need to see improvement from the 4 and 5 positions.  Bryce Roy had a good freshman year, breaking 19 minutes.  If he can move up to the front of their pack, and Lennox Hill or another runner can close the gap to the rest of their top four, the Vikings can be a very good team in 2026.
